No to the comfort zone. One.

My one and only new year's resolution is to say no to the comfort zone, which means I'll do things I wouldn't normally dare to do. It means I'm on the look out for adventure or just a way to change things up a bit.

So I'll be posting visuals (photographs, illustrations, typography layouts) that show how I'm doing what I set up to do this year.

I really hope I can see this through.

This photograph says so much about me right now.

One very important new year's resolution was to get in touch with my emotions. You see, I never ever cry. Ever. And I would always run away from being vulnerable and push everything inside.

So, I made up my mind to just letting go of all my walls and be real to myself.

So far so good, it has worked. I've cried a lot and I've realized a lot of things that I was to afraid to look into. I hope I continue to grow emotionally and live life as I want to.

And I'd like to say how proud I am of this photograph, how much I managed to express with it. That's why I love photography!

Oh, and by the way; today's Juanita's bday! So feliz cumpleaños to my lovely and very awesome camera!

A while ago I did this photoshoot and found this old blazer that my mom used to wear to work and whatever. And it got me thinking about the professional side of me.

I am growing into responsabilities and reality. Independence. I realize how much my parents do for me and how much I will have to handle on my own in the near future, I get a mix of feelings. I feel excited about the possibilities, the chances that lay in front of me but I also feel terrified to not be "good enough" to deal with the demands of society.

I have this sense of urgency, that I need to be ready NOW; that time is running away from me and that I am doing nothing to improve myself and my abilities. I wish I could figure things out quicker. But I am definitely working some sort of plan, I need to. I need to now what my next move is going to be and start working.

Do you ever feel like this? I'd like to think I am not the only one.

Once I give my projects to professors at college I never get them back.

So I thought it would be good to take pictures of them.

I am kind of freaking out at the moment, suddenly I get this feeling of not being ready for real life. There's still so much that I need to learn, and there's no time, and I need to start working soon and and and... Ok. You get the picture.

I guess I need to get things sorted and use time wisely. And breathe.

I am seriously going to think things through. I need a game plan for life. This is where my organization skills come in help. I need to grow in different aspects of my life, not only focus on the academic stuff. I want to be better.

I am really going to take the time to stablish goals and push myself to make them happen. I need to start living my life. Really living.

Happy New Year everyone!
Look! it's a beautiful new layout design thingy. Awesome right?
I just thought as a new years resolution, that I would use this blog a lot more. So I made it all pretty and whatever.
I really don't want to say I'll write about this or that, because I need to not have rules. This is hard for me, I need to feel in control of things; so rules are big deal. But here I am trying to be spontaneous. So whatever comes in this blog you will like, ok?
I doubt anyone would ever read this, but feedback is accepted and appreciated.

so as our final project for photography class my group and I did a little photoshoot. These are not the ones we took together, I took these in between shots and while we changed the sets and whatnot.
I like them. But I still feel I have to do a lot better. I need practice. I need models.
And by the way, we got 100 as our final grade for the curse! So happy :)

I've never felt good at drawing or anything related, I don't think it's extremly necessary for a graphic designer to be a good illustrator, nevertheless I want to do it, and do it right.

De vez en cuando me darán ganas de contarles algo mio. Talvez lo haga en inglés, talvez en español. Yo misma me invento reglas que me obligo a seguir, creo que tengo un poquito de obsesiva-compulsiva en mis adentros, ha. Pero lentamente me obligaré también a romper mis propias reglas.

#1: Tengo un miedo un poco tonto a caerme subiendo y bajando gradas. Especialmente subiendo. Cuando subo gradas en alguna pasarela presto mucha mucha atención a lo que estoy haciendo y si hay mucha gente, peor!

I think that a great part of my photography is inspired by music. I may not know a lot about it, I am not a crazy fan of any particular band or anything, I don't download discographies, for me it's more about the way a song makes me feel. And where the lyrics take me. Also if the video leaves me thinking or if I enjoy it visually it is going to be a favorite for me.

I will show you a few of those videos that inspire me and that I love. The list is of course so much longer, but just so you get the idea.

Why is film so expensive?
But it's really beautiful to discover such nice images when you get your film developed. With my type of memory it really is a surprise to find out I took this pictures (because I'd forget about them).
Took these with my Holga135. And I have more, but I only got to edit these 3. I still have homework to do.
